Mission Statement

The goal of the SIDS Bereavement Support Group is to provide a place for parents and families to grieve, facilitated by a psychotherapist who has advanced training in bereavement counseling and individual therapy.  Bereaved individuals often heal more quickly when in a supportive environment, and when they can be around other families who have experienced the same type of loss.  The group will meet once a month for an hour and and fifteen minutes, and those who attend will be provided with referrals and additional educational information if they desire more regular grief counseling.

The mission of Greenwich House is to help individuals and families lead more fulfilling lives by offering social and health services, cultural and educational programs, and opportunities for civic involvement to New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds.

Thanks to a grant by the CJ Foundation, a donation by First Candle from the proceeds of the Luke Becton Memorial Fund, and the generous cooperation of Greenwich House, Inc., we have been able to run this group since October of 2008.

I sincerely hope this group provides some comfort and I thank all of you who have contributed your time and money to make it possible.

Warm Regards,

Jennifer A. Neely, LCSW
